I want a Little Chef

Ratatouille is an adorable movie. I watched it last night, and the audience (well, the adults in the audience) burst into spontaneous applause at the end. To be honest, I don't know how the film will do with kids - there are cute rats and physical comedy, but I am not sure how gourmet cooking and food snobbery can appeal to the pre-tween set. However, I didn't hear any kids complaining about being bored or confused last night, so what do I know ;-)

It's hard to rank the Pixar films because (as D pointed out) it's like choosing a favorite child when you love them all - but this entry is definitely near the top of the pile for me.

I loved Ratatouille! I thought it had one of the most likable protagonists I've seen in a long time, and hey, I'll go for food snobbery any day!

I have to say, I have genuinely enjoyed every single Pixar movie, but I do place Ratataouille in a category with Cars and A Bug's life Rather than, say, Monsters, Inc or the Incredibles. Still, that's kind of like saying it got an A- rather than an A.

But far and away, my favorite part of the whole experience was the short at the beginning. All those switches, and the look on that kid's face when he realized what he *wasn't* going to be getting was *hilarious*.

That short was brilliant :-) Easily my favorite short since the little naked birdies.

I'd place Ratatouille in with Monsters and the Incredibles, personally. But I totally agree regarding the grading - I mean, I think my least favorite has been Cars, but it was still a totally awesome movie that I enjoyed immensely.
